Cowboys and Indians in a World of Art: What More Could You Ask For?

Mahota at the 50th Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibit

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (“Cowboy Museum”) in Oklahoma City, held its 50th celebration of Prix de West during June 17-18, 2022.

The Cowboy Museum describes this event as the nation’s premier Western art exhibition and sale showcasing original works ranging from historical depictions of the American West to more contemporary and impressionistic pieces. Artwork from this world-renowned event will be on exhibit through mid-August 2022.  Prix de West features paintings and sculptures by the finest contemporary Western artists and is their largest annual fundraiser, raising millions of dollars in support of the museum.

Mahota Textiles had the honor of presenting as a vendor in the exclusive trunk show located in the museum store. The opportunity to display Mahota products for the world to see, feel and experience is something we couldn’t pass up!

During the event, we engaged with patrons, shared the history of Mahota, told the stories behind our designs, and raised awareness of Chickasaw and Southeast tribal culture and symbols.  We even had a special appearance by guest artist and current reigning Chickasaw Princess, Faithlyn Seawright!! Faithlyn shared her story and design process, behind her soon-to-be-released Mahota design, “The White Dog’s Path”.
